Twitter battle: Pietersen slams Pant, Yuvraj replies to defend him

Indian youngster Rishabh Pant faced criticism after he gave his wicket away against New Zealand in the semi-final.

Yuvraj defends Pant
Chasing 240 runs, India were in all sorts of trouble after losing 3 wickets for only 15 runs. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya had all the responsibility in the world to repair the damage. The duo was going quite well for a while, but as usual, Pant couldn’t hold himself back too long from playing a big shot and he gave his wicket away in the end.

The youngster faced a lot of criticism since then from the fans including the former English batsman Kevin Pietersen. He termed Pant’s playing style as pathetic on Twitter after his dismissal and also said this is the reason behind he was not picked in the squad initially.

“How many times have we seen @RishabPant777 do that?????!!!!! The very reason he wasn’t picked initially! Pathetic,” he tweeted.

However, the former Indian all-rounder and the hero of the 2011 World Cup didn’t hold back to defend his countrymen and replied to Pietersen’s tweet. He said everyone is entitled to their opinion and believes Pant will learn from the mistakes.

“He’s played 8 Odis ! It’s not his fault he will learn and get better it’s not pathetic at all ! However we all are entitled to share our opinions,” Yuvraj replied.

Pietersen later cleared to Yuvraj in the reply section that he tweeted it out of frustration and believes he’s a very good player.
