Ever since the visitors South Africa locked horns with India, they haven’t had the luck factor along with them. It is not just about the outcome of the match but the toss has been another factor as well.

Bavuma calls tails at the toss, but it was heads

Interestingly, Faf du Plessis brought in Temba Bavuma at the toss for change of fortunes, but it was to no avail. After losing 9 tosses in a row, South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis dropped a big hint ahead of the third test, that he might bring in someone else to take up the Toss in the hope of some good luck.

It should be noted that Australia Women’s captain Meg Lanning had brought in Alyssa Healy as her toss substitute, mentioning the fact that she hasn’t found success through at the toss and maybe bringing in a proxy would bring some luck.

Even Du Plessis decided to do the same tactic as he called in Temba Bavuma to carry out the Toss at Ranchi. Bavuma made up his mind to call for a tail but unfortunately, it was “heads”, which left the India skipper Virat Kohli in stitches.

Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite losing three wickets early on in the innings, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane struck together a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Kagiso Rabada picked two wickets to his name while Anrich Nortje picked one.

India’s scorecard reads 147/3 (38 overs). Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane are batting at 75* and 49* respectively (drinks break).
