Twitter reacts as Rayudu announces shock retirement
Ambati Rayudu has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket at the age of 33 in the wake of missing out on yet another World Cup.
Earlier, all-rounder, Vijay Shankar was picked ahead of Rayudu’s place despite the fact that the latter has pretty good batting average recently.
With the toe injury ruling Vijay Shankar out of the World Cup, everyone expected Ambati Rayudu would be picked but unfortunately, he was snubbed once again as opener Mayank Agarwal was called in as Vijay Shankar’s replacement.
After being upset by the BCCI’s call, he has now announced retirement from international cricket.
In an unexpected tweet on Tuesday, Iceland cricket had offered Rayudu permanent residency in their country so that Rayudu can play for them after knowing that he has no chance to make the cut in the Indian team.
Here’s how Twitter reacted on Rayudu’s retirement –

Feel the pain of disappointment when all other contestants for India’s N04 Rahul, Shankar, Pant, DK all get to play in the WC. Rayudu in the reserves sees Mayank from nowhere gets to replace Shankar, Rayudu’s heart was broken to pieces #ENGvNZ #Ambatirayudu #Ambatirayuduretires

@BCCI He Wouldn’t have been Retired if he had got a Chance as a Replacement …but Replacement of Vijay Shankar was against all odds(Mayank Agarwal) and A Nominee for No.4 Misses out And it Hurts. #Ambatirayudu We Miss you Man! You made Nation proud 👍 🇮🇳🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/mRKTJOJl3w

Really feel for #AmbatiRayudu. Always gave it everything he had but sometimes was left holding the wrong cards. So hope he continues in domestic white ball cricket so that we can see his wholehearted style of play in the #IPL. This is an emotional moment but there is a tomorrow

Iceland cricket is offering permanent residency to Ambati Rayudu, If he wants to play cricket for them. In that scenario, He can even become @icelandcricket team captain I think.

I thought there is no more nepotism and partiality in Cricket but after this incident of #Ambatirayudu and the past one of Sir@GautamGambhir it’s all clear that you have to lick ass of your superiors(Captain) for your selection into the team or else you must retire silently.🙂

Classic example of how a single tweet could determine the fate of one’s career…
One wrong tweet, mentioned over and over again… Buried the talent we failed to capitalise.

My heart goes out for #Ambatirayudu.
What more can he do after being overlooked again and again by selectors.
Don’t worry @RayuduAmbati, you are a champion player. See you in yellow jersey of @ChennaiIPL soon. Best of luck. #Ambatirayuduretires

You were a potential great, but could not achieve what you should have.Sometimes due to your anger and other times due to BCCI snub. Best of luck.
