Twitter reacts to Sri Lanka’s win over India

Sri Lanka upset tournament favorites India.

Sri Lanka stunned defending champions India in Match 8 of the ICC Champions Trophy on Thursday at the Kennington Oval, London.With this win, Sri Lanka kept themselves alive in the tournament overhauling India’s total of 321 for six with seven wickets in hand and eight balls remaining.

The cricket fraternity made their voices heard and took to twitter to discuss about this huge victory for Sri Lanka and disappointing loss for India.

Former English cricketer Alex Tudor and Current West Indian all rounder Darren Sammy applauded Sri lanka’s brilliant run chase.

Former Sri Lankan cricketers, Mahela Jayawardena and Russel Arnold were ecstatic at their teams brilliant performance.

Even Current Indian cricketers Subramani Badrinath and Irfan Pathan lauded the young         Sri Lankan side for their wonderful run chase.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan blamed India’s predictable tactics as the root cause for India’s defeat.

On the other hand, Indian commentator and cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle pointed out Sri Lanka’s skipper Angelo Mathews’s importance in his side.

With this victory Sri Lanka has secured 2 points and now all the teams in Group B are standing with 2 points each AS a result, the next two group matches of this group have become a virtual quarterfinal. Sri lanka will take on Pakistan on 12 June and India will face South Africa on 11 June. Winners from these two encounters will go on to the semi finals and the losers will pack there bags and return home. Former South African captain Graeme Smith is already excited and eagerly awaiting for his side to take on the Indians for a place in the Champions Trophy semis.
