Twitter slams Olivier after he reveals his wish to play for England


Former South Africa fast bowler Duanne Olivier announced a shock retirement after playing just 10 Tests.

Olivier was one of the known faces in South Africa’s starting XI in the longer format of the game since the last few series. He already picked up 48 wickets in only 10 Tests.

Just when the fast bowler was making his name in the Proteas, he announced a shock retirement and signed a Kolpak Deal with Yorkshire County Cricket Club. The kolpak deal means he will not be considered an overseas player in English domestic cricket. He can even feature in England’s national team in the future.

Meanwhile, Oliver came up with another shocking statement on Wednesday where he said he wishes to play for England one day.

“I accept that my Test career is over for South Africa but if I do well, hopefully in the future, I can play for England. You always need to put your mind to certain goals,” he told Daily Mail.

“Maybe people will think it’s unrealistic but for me, if I really do well, you never know. I can’t tell you what will happen in the future. All I can do, as of now, is control what I am doing this season and give 100% every game,” Olivier added.
