In the midst of sheer enthusiasm of witnessing country’s biggest cricket festival, the initiation of the Bangladesh Premier League in Sylhet is beclouded by ticket mismanagement and fraudulence.
On Sunday, two of BCB officials working in temporary basis have been arrested by police for selling old tickets to the crowd.
Spectators who purchased the tickets were restricted by security officials when they found out the invalidity of tickets.
Angered spectators informed and pointed out the BCB officials who sold the tickets to them.
Sylhet Thana Airport OC Mosharraf Hossain said to a daily, “We have arrested two persons for ticket fraudulence, both of them are working in BCB.”
BCB Chief Security Officer Major Hossain Imam said, “Yes, we have come to know the incident and told the concerned authority to send the convicts into prison. We will not take any responsibility of them.”
BCB Director Ismail Haider Mollick also reckoned of not giving any leeway to the accused, “No one would be spared if he does any wrong. Yes we have heard that they are engaged with BCB but this will not change anything for them. They will be under whatever law appropriate for their misdeed. We will definitely not back them up as BCB officials.”
