USA, Oman achieve ODI status

USA and Oman live the best day in their history as both the countries get the One-Day International status for the first time in their cricketing history.


USA bagged the ODI status after defeating Hong Kong by 84 runs in the World Cricket League Division 2 match in Windhoek on Wednesday while Oman who had three wins in their first three games, were also awarded the ODI status.

The win was USA’s third in the tournament, in four games, and ensured they will finish in the top four in the table of the World Cricket League Division 2. The top four teams from Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Namibia, Canada, Oman and USA will join Scotland, the UAE and Nepal.

After the opening loss against Oman by six wickets, USA trounced Namibia by two runs, PNG by ten wickets and Hong Kong in their last game. They will now take on Canada on 26th April. They are currently at the top of the table with 6 points from four games and will be eyeing a top two finish to seal a place in the final of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Oman  were clinical as they defeated USA, Canada and Hong Kong in their first three games. After their game against Namibia, they will take on PNG ahead of the final.
