Uthappa opens up about comparison between Rohit and Sehwag
Indian right-handed batsman Robin Uthappa recently said his view on the comparisons made between Indian players Rohit Sharma and Virender Sehwag.
Indian right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma has started as the new opener for India in Test cricket. Rohit delivered what the team wanted from his after promoting to the batting position with a classic ton.
In the meantime, Indian right-handed batsman Robin Uthappa opened up about Rohit Sharma’s changeover in the Indian team after promoted as opener in color clothes.
“I think he has figured out opening the batting and this opportunity came at the right moment for Rohit to capitalize on it. So it’s not a surprise that he is successful,” said the 33-year old.
“He has always done well in India and abroad. In white-ball cricket, he dominates the scene right now. He is arguably one of the best batsmen in the world,” Uthappa added.
Further the 33-year old batsman talked about the comparisons between Rohit Sharma and Virender Sehwag as the openers of the Indian cricket team. Uthappa feels that both of them has their own style at the batting position.
Uthappa said, “It’s not right to compare. He has his own style of batting. They are both aggressive that’s the common thread. Viru pa was more a demolisher of the ball while Rohit caresses it. The way they go about dealing with bowlers is vastly different but the aggressive nature in the common factor.”
