VIDEO: Commentators left shocked as Rishabh Pant’s ‘outrageous’ running ends up in tragic run-out
The left-handed cricketer, Rishabh Pant has been in decent touch with the bat in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL). Though he has been scoring a decent amount of runs in every game, he lacks confidence while batting. His dismissal against Rajasthan Royals shows that he lacks confidence and concentration as well.
Coming to the match, the skipper of Rajasthan Royals, Steve Smith won the toss and decided to bowl first against in-form Delhi Capitals. Though the size of boundaries is absolutely small, the openers of Delhi Capitals fail to provide a good momentum to their middle-order players.
Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant made blunders and lost their wickets cheaply. However, the crucial knocks from Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer helped their team to post a commendable total of 184.
Rishabh Pant lost his concentration?
On the second delivery of 10th over, Rahul Tewatia bowled a leg-spinning delivery to Stoinis who knocked the ball towards mid-wicket. With Manan Vohra was standing at mid-wicket, there was no run to offer but the wicket-keeper was not in this world.
Marcus Stoinis did not even run two steps but Pant had reached half of the crease before he was sent back by the Aussie. Rishabh Pant had no idea about the field set-up and one will doubt whether his mind was in the game or not.
Pant started running towards the striker end as he thought that there was no fielder at mid-wicket. He ran across blindly but Vohra threw the ball to Tewatia who completed the formalities.
The left-handed batsman who struggled to score on this good batting pitch ended his inning in a tragic way. The former England cricketer, Kevin Pietersen who was on the commentary panel during this run-out said that this was extremely poor from the Delhi cricketer.
