Video: Gabba crowd abuse Siraj as ‘Bloody Grub’
Indian right-arm fast bowler Mohammed Siraj once again abused by the Australian fans in the ongoing fourth Test in Brisbane.
India’s long tour to Australia is about to end, with only four more days left in the tour. The final Test has started in Brisbane just three days after the dramatic draw at SCG. The third Test witnessed as many actions on the field as well as off the field. There Indian players Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were racially abused by Australian fans.
The issue was reported to the match officials and eve six fans who were abusing Mohammed Siraj on day four immediately vacated from the ground. Australian players including the skipper Tim Paine apologized for the ill-treatment of visitors by home crowd and they have asked their fans to behave properly.
But the story continues in the fourth Test as well. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the abuse of Indian fast bowler continued on day one of the Gabba Test. A spectator from the stands revealed to Sydney Morning Herald that the fast bowler was labeled as ‘bloody grub’ by a set of fans from sections 215 and 216. It is also revealed that the debutant Washington Sundar also treated badly by the crowd.
“The guys behind me have been calling – shouting – both Washington and Siraj grubs,” a fan quoted. “It started targeted at Siraj and it was a chant similar to the SCG one. But this time it was Siraj. I suspect it’s not a coincidence that it’s Siraj being targeted post the SCG stuff. At one point, a man in that section was heard yelling, ‘Siraj, give us a wave, give us a wave, give us a wave. Siraj, you bloody grub,'” the fan added.
Meanwhile, in the entire day, Cricket Australia officials were seen busy for ensuring that their fans were behaving well on the ground. Anyhow, the tragic incident continued to happen in Brisbane.
