VIDEO: Hardik Pandya smashes Todd Astle for a hat-trick of sixes
Team India made a brilliant comeback in the final ODI of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand. After opting to bat first, India was reduced to 18 for 4 within 10 overs. However, the sensational batting efforts from Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya helped the team to reach the decent total.
It was the all-rounder, Hardik Pandya who took the responsibility to finish the innings. During his stay in the middle, the right-handed batsman smashed 45 off just 22 deliveries. He hit two boundaries and five sixes during his knock. Three of those sixes were consecutive ones which came off the bowling of Todd Astle.
Todd Astle bowled well till then under the pressure. He gave away just 17 runs from his first over but he went on to concede 18 runs in the fifth over. The first ball of Astle’s fifth over was a dot. The second ball was a short one and we all know that Pandya loves hitting the spinners. He did not waste the time and went on to hit the big six over wide long-on.
He swung the bat again and mistimed the shot. But, his power sent the ball over the boundary rope. Astle bowled the fourth ball of the over on the legs and Pandya smashed a huge six to complete the three consecutive sixes. The last two ball of the over were dots. Pandya also smashed Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan and Adam Zampa for three consecutive sixes.
