Bangladesh completed another series win as well as a whitewash as they picked up the victory by 61 runs in the third ODI against Zimbabwe.
It was Bangladesh’s fourth 100 plus partnerships in this calendar year and Tamim and Imrul’s first ever 100 plus partnership in ODI. Sikandar Raza broke the partnership when he got the wicket of Imrul Kayes by stumping.
Imrul scored 73 runs off 95 balls, smashing 6 fours and 4 sixes. Then Mushfiqur, who had been sent to bat at no.3 for first time more than five years, joined Tamim Iqbal who looked promising from the start.
But Tamim couldn’t make his innings bigger as he was also stumped at 73 runs. He faced 98 balls on his way to 73 runs featuring 7 fours and a six. Mushfiq also gave away his wicket by stumping out. He scored 28 runs off 25 balls.
After Mushfiqur Rahim’s departure, Bangladesh suffered a mini collapse when Litton, Sabbir and Nasir were dismissed in the space of eleven balls.
On the contrary, Mahmudullah looked calm and made an important 37 runs partnership with skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. He scored 52 runs from just 40 balls with 5 fours and a six. Mashrafe also played an important innings of 16 runs and helped his team to set a decent target of 277 runs to the struggling Zimbabwe.
Jongwe and Cremer both took 2 wickets for Zimbabwe. Chasing the target of 277 runs, Zimbabwe didn’t able to start their innings well as Mustafizur Rahman clean bowled Chamu Chibhabha in the first over of the innings.
Afterwards Zimbabwe lost their wickets sporadically as they lost 3 wickets in just 47 runs. However, the visiting team Captain Elton Chigumbura and Sean Williams tried to build up the innings by making an 80 runs partnership in fourth wicket.
Then Sabbir made the break through at the right moment by picking the wicket of Chigumbura. The Zimbabwean skipper scored 45 runs off 47 balls with 6 fours. Sean Williams didn’t give up and build up a partnership of more than 50 runs with Waller in the fifth wicket.
Al-Amin again broke the partnership by taking the wicket of Waller and immediately after that Mashrafe took the wicket of half-centurion Sean Williams.
Zimbabwe then again started to lose their wickets, thanks to Mustafizur Rahman who picked up 5 wickets for the third time in One Day International cricket.
Arafat Sunny took the last wicket of Muzarabani to give his team a comprehensive win of 61 runs and confirmed another whitewash for Bangladesh.
Sean Williams was the highest scorer for Zimbabwe with the score of 64 runs. Except Mustafizur, Mashrafe, Al-Amin, Sabbir, Nasir and Sunny all took a wicket for his team.
Tamim Iqbal was adjudged man of the match for his splendid 73-run knock for his team.
