Video: KL Rahul whacks Southee for a superb six
We usually hear commentators saying ‘stand and deliver’ and going by the phrase, most of us would have thought that the batsman had hit a four. But, here comes a twist in the tale. With better timing, it can be a six too. It was proved by India’s flamboyant opening batsman KL Rahul during the first T20I match against New Zealand at Eden Park, Auckland.
Lokesh Rahul scored his 10th T20I half-century to continue his rich vein of form in white-ball cricket. After the early departure of Rohit Sharma for seven runs, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli stitched together a 99-run partnership for the second wicket.
However, the highlight of KL Rahul’s innings came during the penultimate delivery of the fifth over when he smashed top Kiwi seamer Tim Southee for a superb flick which ended up going all the way into the stands.
India’s wicket-keeper batsman ended up scoring 56 (27) with the help of four fours and three sixes before getting out to New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi.
