Video: Pandey and Jadeja commit fielding error as Kiwi batsmen run four runs
Even the best fielders in the team commit mistakes and there is nothing one can do about it. During the first T20I fixture of ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Auckland, Manish Pandey and Ravindra Jadeja were seen making a blunder on the field which allowed experienced campaigner New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor (54) and all-rounder Mitchell Santner (2) to run four extra runs. Now, this was quite an interesting way of scoring four runs.
The drama took place on the very fourth ball of the last over when the right-handed batsman Taylor smashed a delivery off India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah towards the leg side. However, one of the best fielders, Manish Pandey made an attempt of restricting the batsmen to a run saw him overrunning the ball and thus letting Ross Taylor and Mitchell Santner to go for the second run.
Sensing a pretty good opportunity to affect a run-out at the non-striker’s end, Ravindra Jadeja went for the direct hit as it was there for the taking but a substandard throw saw the ball racing towards the other side of the ground.
Meanwhile, India all-rounder Shivam Dube could run and throw the ball back, then New Zealand pair had run four runs which is quite rare especially at a small ground.
