Video: Sarfaraz and Iftikhar’s hilarious mix-up against Sri Lanka
When there is a lack of communication between the two batsmen at the crease, things can go horribly wrong for the team. If either batsman knows that he is going to be dismissed while taking a single, he would do his best try not to throw away his wicket.
During the opening T20I fixture of ongoing Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan in Lahore, a hilarious incident was recorded that left everyone in stitches. There was some serious mix-up between Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed and both were trying their best not to get out.
They were involved in a miscommunication which saw Iftikhar getting run-out. It all started on the very third delivery of the 12th over when Iftikhar middled an Isuru Udana delivery towards the cover. Dasun Shanaka, who was at cover, stopped the ball and reverted it back to the Udana at the bowler’s end.
However, the batsmen already decided to take a single and there came an unexpected plot twist. All of a sudden, Iftikhar changed his mind midway but it appeared that he looked calm and cool to return back to the crease.
But little did he know that Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed had almost edged past him at the striker’s end and Iftikhar had to make his way back to the dressing room.
Coming in to bat at the 5th slot in the fifth over, Iftikhar scored 25 (24). Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals and the run rate wasn’t good either. Pakistan ended up getting skittled out for a paltry 101 in 17.4 overs as Sri Lanka convincingly won the match by 64 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

Udana turned out to be the best bowler for Sri Lanka with terrific bowling figures of 2.4-0-11-3. Pacer Nuwan Pradeep and leg-spinner Wanidu Hasaranga also picked three and two wickets.
After Sarfaraz won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat, the visitors could garner 165/5 in 20 overs. Sri Lanka opening batsman Danushka Gunathilaka played an important role for his team as he scored 57 (38) with the help of eight fours and a six.
