Murali Vijay and Washington Sundar return to Tamil Nadu squad

Tamil Nadu is trying their best to make it to the quarterfinals of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Keeping this aim into their mind, they have selected two national players in their squad. Indian test opening batsman Murali Vijay and T20I all-rounder Washington Sundar are those two players who are going to play for Tamil Nadu for the remainder of the tournament.

Murali Vijay

After getting dropped from the test squad in the middle of the England test series, Vijay straightaway went on to play for his county club Essex. He showed astonishing form for them. In the 5 innings which he played for them, he had 3 fifties and a century to his name. He is even dropped for the upcoming West Indies test series.

Vijay scored a total of 323 runs in the five innings which he played for the English club. He was in an exceptional form which was sort of a surprise because of his poor run in the first two matches of the England test series. He will play a huge role as an opener if he clicks for his stateside in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Washington Sundar

On the other side, all-rounder Washington Sundar had a bad luck following him. If he had performed well in this year’s Indian Premier League for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, his place in the national T20 squad would have been cemented. But he suffered an injury blow which sidelined him from the cricket for more than three months.

Sundar is performing exceptionally well in the domestic circuit. With the ball, he has taken 2 five-wicket hauls and a ten-wicket haul with 30 wickets in total to his name. in the 12 first-class matches with the bat, with a high score of 159, he has piled 532 runs so far.

Both the duo of Indian cricket team will replace the two original squad members C Hari Nishanth and Yo Mahesh. Tamil Nadu is performing well steadily in the group stages where they have won 4 out of 6 games until now. 3 more matches are left in the group stages and if they manage to win 2 more then they will be assured of a quarter-final spot.
