Indian opening batsman Murali Vijay has started his County career with a half century and century for Essex in 1st innings and 2nd innings respectively.
The right handed opening batsman had been dropped from the Indian squad for the final two Tests against England because of his poor run over the last one year for India.
Its been a long time since Murali Vijay delivered a bigger one in white clothes. But even after his exclusion from squad, he is supposed to stay back in England as the Essex Cricket Club has made a contract with him for the remaining matches of on going County Championship.
So Murali Vijay has made his County debut for Essex against Nottinghamshire. And the debut has turned out to be an amazing one in the context of his form over the last few months.
In the first innings itself he announced hus arrival to County stinct with a half century that was much needed in his team’s point of view also according to the match situation. He was the top scorer of the 1st innings with 56 runs from 95 balls including 9 fours.
Then the second innings became more successful for the roght handed opening batsman as he delivered his maiden ton in County stinct that too in the first game it self. With his ton the Indian batsman has equalled the record of South African opening batsman Hashim Amla’s record of scoring ton in County debut.
Vijay has scored 100 runs from 181 balls he faced including 15 fours. His maiden ton and the partnership between Tom Westly guided Essex to clinch a comfortable eight-wicket win over Nottinghamshire.
