Virat Kohli and Co will dominate the World Cup, predicts Sourav Ganguly

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly who has been following India’s matches closely is very well impressed by team’s performances in overseas conditions like Australia and New Zealand. In fact, this sheer dominance by Virat Kohli & Co against the oppositions reflects relentless confidence and self-belief in them.

Ganguly talks about India’s confidence that is driving them for wins

Virat Kohli will always be known for being the cut above the rest in terms of captaincy as he has helped the team to secure T20I series in England, ODI & T20I series in South Africa and a Test series in Australia, ODI series in New Zealand which is the first time ever, an achievement that every Indian will cheer for the rest of their lives

“It’s been a better performance than Australia. It has been complete domination at home and away as well,” Ganguly said to IndiaTV regarding the three back-to-back wins against New Zealand. “The confidence has been great and it’s quite impressive to see the bowlers get them out in 50 overs. It’s been a great year for India in ODIs.” he added.

India’s creative spin-duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal has been weaving the magic for India’s victories, according to Ganguly. “Kulcha (Kuldeep-Chahal) have strangled the New Zealand Batsman and overall the team has been excellent. Especially Rohit and Kohli, who have been so consistent; you don’t have such a top order in any other team in the world. India are ahead of other teams in ODI cricket. This might be one of the best World Cups we may witness.”

As far as chasing big targets are concerned, Indian batsmen have shown that they can do anything in a tense run-chase. “A team cannot defeat India if you’re putting on targets such as 200 or 250, the Indian batsmen have shown the ability to chase down bigger targets. Whenever there is pressure, batsman like Rohit, Virat, Kedar or Dhoni respond with a six. They’ve learnt how to handle pressure,” the CAB President said in the interview.
