Want to thank Pakistan media and my critics: Imam

“Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq was seen in a wild mood while celebrating after scoring his 5th hundred against South Africa in the third ODI.

Imam scored hundred
It has not been a happy ride for Imam in the International cricket so far. Despite having an average of 60.66 with four fifties and four hundreds (before today), the opener has been often criticized for failing to perform in few matches and he has always been teased as he is the nephew of Pakistan’s chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq.

However, Imam didn’t shy away to respond to his critics after scoring hundred in the ongoing match against South Africa. He celebrated wildly and signaled his critics to remain silent.

After the first innings, the opener also thanked the Pakistan media and his critics in the interview

“It was a very special hundred. Coming here in SA, we had the belief that we’ll win. That message – my selection, all that stuff. As everyone knows I’m the nephew of the chief selector [Inzmam]. I really want to thank all the Pakistan media and Pakistan people who always criticise me. Really want to thank them. [My] success I have is because of them,” he said.

Imam also became the second fastest to score 1000 ODI runs after teammate and fellow opener Fakhar Zaman and he didn’t forget to thank his supporting staff after achieving this feat.

“Want to thank the supporting staff, Grant Flower and Mickey Arthur for supporting me like crazy. Without my parent, I don’t think I would’ve been standing here,” he added.
