Wanted to play like Sourav Ganguly from my childhood: Soumya

Bangladesh left-handed batsman Soumya Sarkar worships Indian former skipper and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly as an Idol from very childhood. The time he didn’t understood cricket and the time he is playing now, Sourav is still his idol and he still appreciate him as the same he did every time.

Besides he revealed that, Yuvraj Singh is his favorite player in Indian side.

From very early childhood Soumya decided to be a crickter and Sourav was the man in backstage. Soumya said that when he used to watch Sourav, he loved the way how Sourav approached to spinner and hit big boundaries. The left handed batsman says,

“In my childhood I didn’t understand cricket at all, but when I saw him playing I used get charmed by him. I loved the way he batted and loved his approach on the pitch. I loved cricket watching him playing.”

Sourav Ganguly used to bat in left hand and sometimes he used to bowl as a part timer. Similarly, Soumya uses his right hand for batting and sometimes he bowls medium pace.

“Although I was not a left-handed batsman but I started batting by left hand after watching dada(Sourav) playing in left hand. And I also started bowling, watching him to bowl,” Soumya said.

Soumya also expressed his desire to meet his dream idol. He says, “I didn’t have the chance to see him directly. But while I was in U19 team, I was representing Bangladeshi side in India tour and he was present there. Although I had many things to say to him but I didn’t manage to say anything at all.”

For now, Soumya is following Yuvraj Singh. He said the love the speed approach capacity of Yuvraj most. He wants to hold the quality inside him and play according to his class. Soumya also said What said to him when they met. Yuvraj suggested him to believe in himself.
