Warne picks England and India as favorites for World Cup

Former Australia leg-spinner Shane Warner has picked England and India as ‘hot favorites’ for the upcoming World Cup.

Warne willing to help out Australia
While posting Australia’s World Cup squad in his column, Warne said the hosts England and India are favorites to win the World Cup. However, he didn’t rule out Australia’s chance of defending their title either.

Warner posted on his Twitter on Wednesday –

“As I’m putting my #worldcup squad together for my column, I really believe Aust can win it again,” Warne wrote on his Twitter handle on Tuesday. As we have the players for the conditions, match winners etc. I think England & India go in as hot favorites, but if the selectors play their part – then the Aussies can 100% win.”

Warne might still have faith in Australia defending the title. But the ODI record of 2018 gives negative views as the men in yellow lost four straight ODI series starting January 2018 that include back-to-back defeats to England (home and away), South Africa (home), India (home).

Meanwhile, Steve Smith’s participation in the World Cup is also in doubt due to injury. His elbow injury came to haunt him once again while playing for Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
