Wasim Akram, big fan of Bangladesh cricket
Cricket is currently closed due to coronavirus. So cricketers have to spend time sitting at home. At the moment, Bangladesh cricket team’s ODI captain Tamim Iqbal has taken an initiative. He is having live sessions on Facebook with local and foreign cricketers.
Former Bangladesh cricketers Akram Khan, Minhajul Abedin Nannu and Khaled Mashud Pilot were guests on Tamim’s live on Tuesday night (May 19). Former Pakistan star fast bowler Wasim Akram also joined as a special guest.
At this time, Tamim wanted to know about various issues from Wasim Akram. Wasim Akram said,
“Bangladesh is one of my favorite places. The nature, people and food of Bangladesh are all wonderful. Cricket is very popular there. I played for Abahani. I am a great fan of Bangladesh cricket. At present Bangladesh is playing great cricket. You (Tamim), Shakib is a good quality cricketer. You are both left-handed batsmen.”
Since Wasim Akram was a big pace bowler, Tamim wanted to know what to do if those who are 15-16 years old now have to be good fast bowlers.
In reply, Wasim Akram said, “They have to practice more and more. They have to play lots of matches. Not a T20 match, a two-day, three-day, four-day match. T20 is a funny cricket. Money can be earned through this. But to be a good cricketer, you have to play first-class cricket, you have to play Test cricket.”
