Watch: Afridi smashes 81* off 40 balls
In what comes as an absolute visual treat for Pakistan fans, former captain Shahid Afridi just stole the show and entertained the fans through and through. Afridi maybe 39 years old but he smashed maximums with brute force proving that age is just a number.
Afridi’s boom boom unbeaten 81-run knock off just 40 balls pushed his side Brampton Wolves’ 27-run win over Edmonton Royals in the Global T20 Canada match at CAA Centre in Brampton on Sunday. Afridi was unstoppable when he got into the groove and he kept smashing boundaries at will. He has thrashed 10 boundaries and five sixes.
Impressed by Afridi’s heroics, even the official Twitter handle of Global T20 Canada League uploaded a video showing Shahid Afridi deftly smashing the white ball all around the park in his typical fashion.

After using his blade to better effect, Afridi bowled really well. He had also claimed the wicket of fellow countryman Mohammad Hafeez.
With help from Afridi’s fiery knock and Lendl Simmons 34-ball 59, Brampton Wolves posted a mammoth 207-run total on the board in their full quota of 20 overs.
As for Edmonton Royals, Shadab Khan ended up as the leading wicket-taker with three wickets.
In reply, the efforts of Richie Berrington (28), captain Faf du Plessis (21), James Neesham (33) and Shadab Khan (27) went in vain as Edmonton Royals fell short by 27 runs and eventually scored 180 in 20 overs.
For Brampton Wolves, Zahoor Khan and Ish Sodhi picked up three wickets each whereas Wahab Riaz claimed two wickets.
Shahid Afridi was named the Man of the Match for a terrific performance.
