Balkh Legends register biggest win of APL 2018 to reach in the final
In the semi-final of the first ever Afghanistan Premier League, Balkh Legends crushed Nangarhar Leopards by 171 runs.
It was an one-sided affair where Balkh Legends stormed into the final of the inaugural APL with a record breaking margin of win against Nangarhar Leopards.
At the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Balkh Legends posted a mammoth 235/5 before outplayed Nangarhar Leopards for 64 to come out with the biggest win of the tournament so far.
Caribbean master hitter Chris Gayle delivered a quick fire 54 off 30 deliveries in a 75-run opening stand with Darwish Rasool. Gayle struck nine fours and two sixes.
Gayle’s partner Rasool was no less than him in destruction. Rasool scored a 45-ball 78 with seven fours and four sixes.
Later on, captain Mohammad Nabi overshadowed his predecessors in the innings with a fiery 16 ball 47 to take the Balkh Legends’ score to pass 200 run mark. He marked five sixes and two fours.
In reply, Andre Fletcher opened the innings in a positive note for Nangarhar Leopards but soon his team went to back foot as Mohammad Nabi bagged two wickets in an over.
There were no way to return for the Leopards; within 7.3 overs next, they were reduced to 39/7 before light drizzle interrupt the proceeding.
Mohammad Nabi captured the bowling figure of 4 for 12 soon after the play resumed to end Leopard’s innings.
