The two-match Test series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is inching closer to a result as three days left in the Boxing Day Test which is also the series decider as the series opener ended in a draw.

After winning the toss in Boxing Day morning in Christchurch Sri Lanka put New Zealand to bat first. New Zealand experienced a dramatic batting collapse in their batting order as Lankan fast bowlers did a nice job. With some decent contributions from lower order batsman New Zealand scored 176 in their first innings.

In reply, the visitors also struggled with the new ball attack of New Zealand bowlers. However they were 88/4 at the stumps on day 1 which was slightly a commanding position considering the first innings score of hosts.

But New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult scripted a dramatic morning on day 2 as he bagged the remaining six wickets of Lankan batsman within just 15 deliveries. In the 15 balls, Boult gave away only 4 runs and created the worst batting collapse in the history of the game.

For the first four wickets, Trent Boult didn’t concede a single run and also had a chance for a hattrick which was well defended by Lankan player Chameera. All the Lankan tail-enders were dismissed for duck and which is also a rarest occasion in the game.
