The fourth ton of Rohit Sharma brought India another T20I series win since India won the second T20I of the three-match series by 71 runs.
Following a low scoring game in the opener of theT20I series, both teams gathered in Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. It was another historical moment that the stadium hosts an International match after 24 years.
The pitch was a usual batting track that can be seen in many grounds in India. Windies skipper Carlos Brathwaite won the toss and elected to bowl first considering the dew factor that always has a part in India.
The Indian team had only one change as Bhuvneshwar Kumar came into the side after missing the first game due to gastric problems. Umesh Yadav made way for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Windies brought in Khary Pierre into the playing XI.
The Indian openers once again proved that they are one of the best opening pairs against the white ball at the moment with a 123 run partnership between them. After some failures, Shikhar Dhawan played a run a ball knock of 43 but a good supporting one for Rohit Sharma.
Rishab Pant came in at no.3 since the scoring rate was good at that moment and the management relied him on maintaining that. But Pant had another failure in color clothes since he was dismissed on just five runs.
On the other end, Rohit Sharma was unstoppable and registered his fourth ton in T20I format and became the first batsman in the history too. Rohit remained unbeaten on 111 at the end of Indian innings. Along with the captain, KL Rahul remained on 26 runs which was a decent cameo.
India finally put 195 runs on the board and Windies were put in a situation for a high chase. But Windies batsmen were once again not up to the expectations on them before the start of the T20I series.
Indian bowlers kept their toes over the Windies batsmen throughout the innings. Windies managed to score only 124 runs in their allocated 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets and India won the game by 71 runs.
Indian bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Khaleel Ahmed took two wickets each. Now India ensured the series win with a lead of 2-0 which is also the seventh consecutive one for the hosts. Obviously, Rohit Sharma awarded as the man of the match.
