Watch: Bumrah and Pollard’s ‘almost collision’ from the second T20I

Though India won the second T20 International quite comfortably, there was a bizarre incident which took place during Kieron Pollard’s dismissal.

Kieron Pollard

Indian speedster Japrit Bumrah and West Indies big man Pollard almost collided with each other. Though in the end it didn’t happen and didn’t lead to any further controversy thankfully.

India was bossing the game until the 10th over. West Indies were struggling at 68 for 4 at the halfway mark. But the experienced pair of wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin and hard hitter Kieron Pollard was at the crease and everyone knows what the latter is capable of when he goes big. Keeping this in mind, Captain Rohit Sharma brought back his best bowler Bumrah in the 11th over.

Bumrah was bowling very good and wasn’t giving any room whatsoever to Pollard. Finally, Pollard tried to hit a pull shot to Bumrah but the ball bounced so much that he lobbed the ball straight in the air. After the ball went in the air, Pollard started walking keeping his head down. But in the process, he almost collided with Bumrah who was catching the ball. Thankfully, he didn’t drop the catch.

Both Kieron Pollard and Jasprit Bumrah play for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League for many years. As well as their captain at Mumbai is Rohit Sharma who was captaining India in this match. All of them share a strong bond with each other. They know each other really well and that’s why there won’t be any serious actions from the Indian side on this unusual behaviour of Pollard.

In the end, after Pollard’s dismissal, West Indies didn’t have any firepower left in their tank. Though bug hitting skipper Carlos Brathwaite tried to reach a respectable total for his side but they failed to do so. India won the match by a huge 71 run margin taking an unassailable lead in the three-match T20 International series. This series win continues Rohit Sharma’s record. He is yet to lose a T20 International series in which he has captained the national side.
