Watch: Cosgrove heads a bouncer to slips
Mark Cosgrove used his head to defend a ball to create a bizarre moment in county cricket.
Mark Cosgrove might have done something which the country world didn’t ever see before as he defended a delivery by intentionally heading the ball to slips during the Leicestershire-Durham match on Wednesday.
During the four-day county game between the two teams, when the bowler began his run-up it all seemed normal until Cosgrove began to walk down the wicket. The bowled a bouncer and Cosgrove looked absolutely uninterested and he put his head in the way and headed the ball, with it eventually landing in the hands of the fielder in slip.
Since then, the bizarre moment as been trending all over the world as a funny moment. However, it could also have been a dangerous move considering the amount of head injuries in the recent past. Even during the second Test between Australia and England in the Ashes, Steve Smith had to leave the field retired hurt after getting struck off a bouncer from Jofra Archer.
Smith is now also ruled out of the third Test due to concussion. English opener Jason Roy was also hit with a bouncer, but he is cleared to play in the third test.
