Watch: Cummins’s great effort to dismiss Thirimanne
Australian player Pat Cummins took a good reflex catch to dismiss Lahiru Thirimanne in his own bowling.
Sri Lanka have ended their tiny tour to Australia for only two Tests in another losing cause for them while the hosts have tasted a series victory after a very long gap.
Australian skipper Tim Paine won the toss and elected to bat first. The Aussies used the toss and home advantages really well and added 534 runs for the loss five wickets in their first innings. Sri Lanka managed to score only 215 runs for the loss of nine wickets as they had another injury blow in the form of Kusal Perera.
Australia declared their second innings when they were 196/3 and the lead was 514 at that point. Australia set a target of 515 for Sri Lanka. For Australia Usman Khawaja scored a fast ton in the second innings. Lankan were bowled out for only 149 runs in the chase for 515.
Lahiru Thirimanne was the second top scorer for Sri Lanka in the second innings with 30 runs. The left-handed opening batsman was dismissed after a great effort by Pat Cummins.
The right-arm fast bowler bowled a bouncer at Thirimanne. Thirimanne just edged the ball with the bottom of the bat and Pat Cummins ran all the way down the pitch. He finally put a great dive and grabbed the ball in his hand without any mistake.
