Watch: Gunathilaka hits Stanlake for an exquisite six


Sri Lanka’s opening batsman Danushka Gunathilaka rode upon Aussie pacer Billy Stanlake to take 12 runs off the fourth over of the Lankan innings during the second T20 international match in Gabba.

In the fifth delivery of the fourth over, Gunathilaka scooped Stanlake for an unbelievable six that went above the wicket-keeper’s head for a six.

Gunathilaka, at last, scored 21 runs featuring 22 deliveries hitting two fours and a six. He opened the innings with Kusal Mendis who lost his wicket scoring a single run.

As of the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first. They compiled only 117 runs losing all the wickets with a single over still left in hand. Kusal Perera scored highest 27 runs.

For Australia, Billy Stanlake, Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa all grabbed 2 wickets each.

In reply, it was once again an all David Warner show; he ragged the Sri Lankan bowlers out of the park with his devastating batting. Warner’s 41 ball 60 contained 9 shots to the boundary.

With Aaron Finch made a first ball duck in the middle, Steven Smith hammered hard to ensure Australia’s victory in just 13 overs.

Smith produced 53 off 36 with six shots to the fence.
