However with the partnership between Jimmy Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme, New Zealand managed to put up a competitive total of 236 on the board. In reply Pakistan lost their openers shortly without a big contribution.

Pakistan opening batsman Imam-Ul-Haq was dismissed following an outstanding forward diving catch from Martin Guptill. It all happened on the second delivery of the 11th over when Imam was found wanting against a nasty short ball from New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson.

Guptill, who was fielding at point, judged the opportunity of a potential dismissal. The 32-year old ran forward towards the ball following it with an incredible dive to catch it with both his hands.
