Watch Highlights: Bangladesh vs Oman, World T20 2016


Tamim Iqbal’s magnificent maiden century inspired Bangladesh to win over Oman by 54 runs (D/L method) in an all-important do-or-die match of the ICC World T20 2016 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in Dharamsala on Sunday to qualify for the Super-10 stage of the competition. After rain appeared in the skyline for foul play midway through the Oman innings when the gulf nation were on 42 for two, chasing a total of 181 runs set by the Tigers, the match was delayed for about an hour. And then when the match resumed, Oman got a revised target of 152 off 16 runs, which meant they needed to score 111 runs in last 9 overs.

However only 1.2 overs were played after the break, and then the rain was back again, so were the covers. In the meantime, Oman lost two more wickets while adding only four runs. And hence, Oman were almost knocked out of the contest, as they werewere 32 runs behind the DLS score .

After 20 minutes, the match restarted again, with Oman’s revised target now stood 120 runs from 12 overs, which meant they needed 75 runs from 22 deliveries. But the Men in Red were never really in contention. It seemed like the match resumed only to fill Shakib Al Hasan with some more wickets. Shakib in the end finished with four for 15, as Oman were restricted to 65 for nine in 12 overs and conceded a 54-run defeat.
