Watch: Liton’s 60 runs in 2nd T20I against Windies
After a disastrous performance in the first T20I, the hosts crawled back in the second T20I to level the series at the Mirpur Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Windies captain Carlos Braithwaite opted to field first after winning the toss and Bangladesh openers were off to a flyer. Tamim Iqbal (15) departed after hitting a boundary while his partner Liton Das kept hitting bowlers all over the park. He went on to score yet another T20I fifty and keeps his amazing form going in the short format.
With 6 fours and 4 massive sixes, Liton scored 60 off just 34 balls. Soumya Sarkar (32) also supported him well with his little cameo and can count himself unlucky as the Windies skipper took a blinder to dismiss him.
However, the fall of Soumya and Liton couldn’t save Windies in the end as the Bangladesh skipper started from where he left off in the first T20I. While on the other side, Mahmudullah (43*) announced his arrival at the crease with hattrick of fours. The duo took Bangladesh took a massive score of 211 runs in their 20 overs and threw the challenge to the Caribbeans.
In reply, Windies lost Evin Lewis early, But the man in form Shai Hope started off with all guns blazing yet again. However, the hosts managed to stop him this time as Mehidy Hasan picked up the vital wicket. The ODI captain Rovman Powell, who scored a brisk fifty kept the hopes alive for the visitors.
But after his departure, it was all over for Braithwaite’s men and Bangladesh secured a comfortable win by 36 runs to level the series.
