Mashrafe and co thrash Comilla Victorians
A superb bowling effort from skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza secured a comfortable win for Rangpur Riders against Comilla Victorians in the 6th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
After winning the toss, Rangpur opted to bowl first and the show from the captain started right from the word go. Mashrafe bowled all his four overs in one spell and picked up four wickets including one maiden.
His first scalp was Tamim Iqbal and he then went onto pick up the wickets of Shoaib Malik, Steve Smith and Imrul Kayes Comilla were in massive trouble with 5 down for only 18 runs and there was no crawling back into the game from there.
Shafiul Islam and Nazmul Islam Apu also chipped in and picked up 2 wickets and 3 wickets respectively. Shahid Afridi, who scored 25 from 18 was the highest scorer for the side. Comilla bowled out for 63 in the end, managing survive only 16.2 overs.
In reply, Abu Haider Rony departed the dangerous Chris Gayle early. However, it was the first and the last opportunity for Comilla to celebrate in this game. Mehedi Maruf (36*) and Rilee Rossouw (20*) comfortably took Rangpur over the line and made it two in two after the loss in their opening game.
