Number one ranked One-day side England outclassed India by eight wickets with 33 balls to spare, in the final match of the three-match ODI series on Tuesday, in Leeds. With this victory, the hosts secured the series 2-1 against the No 2 side in the world.
Having been asked to bat first at the Headingley, India were restricted to 256 for eight in 50 overs. Skipper Virat Kohli was the top scorer for the visiting side with 71 off 72 balls. His innings was made of seven boundaries. Earlier India lost opener Rohit Sharma at the beginning of the innings as he was sent back to the pavilion by Willey, scoring only 2 runs from 18 balls.
For England, pacer David Willey and leg-break bowler Adil Rashid bagged three wickets each while Mark Wood picked up the wicket of Hardik Pandya.
Chasing 260 in 50 overs, England one-down batsman Joe Root picked up his 13th century in the shorter format of the game from the last ball of the match which confirmed a comfortable win for the hosts. Skipper Eoin Morgan remained unbeaten on 88 after making an unbroken partnership of 186 with centurion Root.
