WATCH: MS Dhoni’s right call helps India take the ‘perfect review’

In a cricketing world where umpires are still making judgmental errors when it comes to LBW. DRS technology has successfully overturned them at the best scene. But the real question arises as to who is ready to go for the DRS? In the Indian cricket team, there is no better player than MS Dhoni who is confident enough to go for the DRS at the right time.

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni has one of the best cricketing brains in contemporary cricket, come what may. When it comes to decision making, he is one step ahead of other cricketers without second thoughts. Time and time again, he has made the umpires overturn the review.

It was during the recently-concluded match against Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2018, MS Dhoni’s experience came into play as his suggestion helped India take the perfect review. Being right behind the stumps, MS Dhoni has got the majority of his decisions spot on and this time too it was nothing new. This sums up the essential Mahendra Singh Dhoni for you.

During India’s bowling, the wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal trapped Imam-ul-Haq for an LBW. The ball pitched on middle and off and then turned back in towards Imam. The latter approached it a tad late by getting his front foot across the pitch.

As he couldn’t read the ball properly, he tried to get the bat to his normal position in a bid to touch the ball but little did he know that the ball would go on to beat him to strike the front pad at the first place. The ball was hitting the top of middle and leg. With a ray of hope, the Indians appealed and the umpire turned down the decision.

Then MS Dhoni had suggested going for the review. It suggested that the bat didn’t make any contact with the ball according to ultra-edge and it was clearly hitting the stumps. “Not out” was the decision on the big screen and once again MSD’s suggestion came in handy for the Indians.  Technically speaking, DRS stands for Decision Review System but according to cricket fans, it is Dhoni Review System.
