Watch: Pakistan batsmen run five off a delivery
The continuous failure of New Zealand fielders allowed Pakistan Batsmen to take five runs off a single ball in the third ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand.
Pakistan took on New Zealand in the third ODI game of the three-match ODI series between both nations in Dubai International Stadium, Dubai. But the match ended in a draw since rain spoiled the party in Dubai.
It was set to be the decider of the ODI series since both games had a win each in the first two games. Since the game was abandoned due to the rain interruption, the series ended in a draw as 1-1.
In the match, Pakistan batted first and posted 279 on the board for the loss of eight wickets. The funny incident happened in the 49th over of the Pakistan innings.
New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult bowled to all-rounder Faheem Ashraf. The left-handed batsman got a full toss and he flicked it down the leg and the batsmen took three runs.
The fielder gave the ball back to wicketkeeper Tom Latham who made a wayward throw at the non-striker’s end, allowing the batsmen to take the fourth and then there was a poor backing, which saw Ashraf and his partner Asif Ali picking the fifth.
Ali hit the next ball for a six, adding more salt to the opponents’ wounds. It was one of those days when the Black Caps, otherwise known to be a good fielding side, had a loose show.
