Pakistan come back stronger on day 2
Pakistan have come back stronger on day 2 of the second Test after bowling out the visitors for only 145 and take a lead of 281 at the end of day 2.
After a dramatic first Test in Dubai, Pakistan and Australia are sweating out their effort in Abu Dhabi in the decider of the two-match Test series between both nations. On day 1 Pakistan were bowled out for only 282 after winning the toss.
But the Pakistan fast bowler struck at the end of day 1 with two wickets resulted in 20/2 for the visitors at the conclusion of day’s play. Aaron Finch was in the field on 13.
The start of day 2 was also not an expected one for the visitors as Shaun Marsh was dismissed by Mohammad Abbas. Following an early wicket in the morning of day 2, none of the Australian middle-order batsmen spent some time in the field as Australia lost wickets in quick succession.
The over-night batsman and the opener Aaron Finch had some fight with the Pakistan bowling attack, scoring 39 runs. With the failures of batsmen, Australia had a decent partnership between Marnus Lamuschagne and Mitchell Starc for the eighth wicket, that too only 37 runs.
Since the wickets fell in regular intervals, Australia were bowled out for only 145 runs in their first innings. The collapse brought a first innings lead of 137 runs for the hosts.
In the bowling line-up, once again pacer Mohammad Abbas troubled the Australian batsmen, taking another five-wicket haul in the series. Next to him, Bilal Asif bagged three wickets for his contribution.
With a healthy lead from the first innings, Pakistan started their second innings. But they also had a poor start with the wicket of Mohammad Hafeez only for 6 runs. Following the wicket of Hafeez, Pakistan had a useful partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali for the second wicket which controlled the flow of early wickets.
Fakhar scored another half-century in his debut game before returning to the pavilion on 66. His partner Azhar Ali also did the same and still in the crease on 54 runs. At the end of day 2, Pakistan were 144/2 with Azhar Ali and Haris Sohail on the field.
With the strong and steady second innings so far, Pakistan are leading by 281 runs over the visitors. In the visitors’ side, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon took one wicket each in the second innings.
