People love it more when there is negative news about me: Shakib
Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan , who was the man of the night for the hosts gave some cheeky replies to the reporters and spoke about his comment where he blamed the batsmen after the loss in the first T20I.
After a disastrous defeat in the first T20I, Shakib said in the press conference “You must ask the other batsmen why they didn’t bat well. I can’t answer for everyone,” when asked what went wrong for the Bangladesh batters.
And just like most of the occasions, it came as a wrong headline in the newspapers and the skipper was criticized for his comments.
However, Shakib spoke about it after the second T20I and cleared it stating that he didn’t blame the batsmen after the defeat,
“There was no message [to the batters]. I did not talk to anyone or did not blame the batsmen. I did it as a way of saying something fun. I know you guys will not write the whole answer, just the negative news (laughs),” he said.
.I know people like news on me with a more negative angle. I like it too. Because I think it gives me at least some inspiration to do well,” Shakib added.
When asked if that kind of inspiration helped him to perform so well today, the skipper said – “No, thankfully by the grace of the Almighty, it wasn’t. When there is a situation like that, the Almighty always has given me something.”
Shakib and his men will play the series decider against Windies on December 22 in the same ground.
