Qalandars handed fifth consecutive defeats
In their fifth match of this season’s PSL, Lahore Qalandars suffered the biggest defeat so far. In the hands of Peshawar Zalmi, the Qalandars’ survival went far reach, in terms of both points and run rate as the Lahore franchise were hooked up with a 10 wicket defeat.
All they could mounted was an even 100 runs on the board after batting first, the decision which was taken by Brendon McCullum after winning the toss at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium in Sharjah.
The playful target was played softly by the Zalmi openers. Both of them were unbeaten, punched Lahore Qalandars bowlers evenly, Akmal was bit harder than Iqbal reaching out the fifty.
Between the two, wicket keeper batsman Kamran Akmal scored highest. His 47 ball 57 triggered 7 fours and 2 sixes.
However, morning didn’t show the day for Lahore Qalandars. They brisked to 42 runs in first 4 overs, courtesy to Fakhar Zaman’s stead past 30 off 17 balls containing 4 fours and 2 sixes.
But it was everything they stored for the day. Once captain Brendon McCullum lost his way, the other batsmen followed in no hurry, the scoring rate also got down at below par level.
17 overs they survived in the wicket but no more than 100 runs were accumulated on the board.
With the win, Peshawar Zalmi elevated to the third position in the point table with 6 points in 5 matches.
