Watch: Rabada gets his revenge on Gayle after getting smoked for a six
Delhi Capitals locked horns with Punjab Kings in the 29th match of IPL 2021 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Earlier, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to bowl first. Punjab Kings are playing without their regular captain KL Rahul who was diagnosed with acute appendicitis.
Mayank Agarwal has been handed PBKS captaincy in Lokesh Rahul’s absence. Mayank played a captain’s knock by taking the DC bowling attack to the cleaners. He scored an unbeaten 99 off 58 balls with a flurry of 8 boundaries and 4 hits over the fence at a strike rate of 170.69.
Mayank’s productive knock powered Punjab Kings to 166/6 in their quota of 20 overs. On the other side of the coin, Kagiso Rabada was the best bowler for Delhi Capitals. The Proteas took three wickets for his franchise and gave away 36 runs in his full quota of 4 overs.
Kagiso Rabada gets his revenge on Chris Gayle
One of the most beautiful things in cricket is the rivalry between the batsman and a bowler. A batsman tries his best to smack the bowler out of the park in the powerplay overs. That’s exactly what Chris Gayle did to Kagiso Rabada in the final over of the powerplay.
The Universe Boss tried to make most of the powerplay over by smashing a six off the Proteas pacer. However, Rabada made a stunning comeback by dismissing Chris Gayle in the next delivery itself. This goes to show why Rabada is one of the best pacers in the modern era.
The South African pacer tried to bowl a deadly yorker but was not right in the money. So, he delivered a pacy full toss in the first place. Chris Gayle didn’t know how to react to the full toss and he attempted to defend the ball instead of hitting it.
However, he missed the ball completely and was clean bowled by Rabada. Gayle might have tonked Rabada for a six but the latter did win the battle by getting his wicket.
