Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians registered their second victory in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday, after beating Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets. The Mumbai bowlers set the up the victory by keeping Chennai to 169 for 5, before skipper Rohit Sharma prompted himself to No. 3 and finished the match off in style in the last over of the match.
Earlier, Having been asked to bat first at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Chennai Super Kings had a good start as they reached to 100 runs within 12 overs losing only two wickets. Although opener Shane Watson went back to the pavilion early, another opener Ambati Rayudu scored 46 off 35 balls before getting out in the 12th over.
However, one-down batsman Suresh Raina stayed on the middle till the end to help CSK post 169 in the score board after 20 overs. Raina smashed six fours and four sixes in his quick 47-ball 75 runs innings.
In reply, Mumbai openers gave their side a perfect start, scoring 40 above each. After opener Yadav’s departure, Rohit Sharma took responsibility by promoting himself to No. 3. He stayed on the crease till the end and confirmed his side’s victory with a blistering 33-ball 56 runs knock.
