Rajshahi stay alive after knocking Sylhet out
Rajshahi Kings registered a comprehensive victory over Sylhet Sixers which keeps them alive in the tournament while the Sixers are out after the defeat.
In the do or die game, Sixers won the toss and opted to bat first. Liton Das (10) failed to contribute big while Afif Hossain played a brisk 29 off 25.
Sabbir Rahman also chipped in and played a steady knock of 45 from 39. But it was Nicholas Pooran, who played a blinder of an innings. With 6 fours and 6 sixes, Poorn hammered an unbeaten 76 off just 31 balls. The monstrous innings took Sixers to a big score of 189 runs in the end.
In reply, Kings found themselves in trouble after losing Zakir Hasan and Shahriar Nafees early. Johnson Charles hit some huge blows before departing for 39.
With 64-3 and required run-rate climbing high, the game was going away from the Kings. But Ryan Ten Doeschate and Laurie Evans took the Sixers’ bowlers to the cleaners.
The duo smashed the bowlers all over the park and completely took the game away from the Sixers. With 10 fours and 2 sixes, Evans smacked 76 off just 36 while Ten Doeschate scored 42 off just 18.
Sixers departed the duo, but it was too late in the end as Jonker and Soumya took Rajshahi to a comfortable win by five wickets.
