Watch: Riyad’s wicket in PSL eliminator

Anwar Ali raised from the ashes, stormed through Peshawar Zalmi attack, took 23 runs from the last over of Liam Dawson, finished failing to take the winning run and it all ended heartbreaking for Quetta Gladiators – for the second season in a row, the PSL eliminator between these two teams decided over a single run and for the second season in a row, it is the Quetta Gladiators who are at the receiving end of the tragedy.

The match was visibly decided earlier when Quetta Gladiators needed 24 runs off the last over but drama at the Gaddafi Stadium was yet to unfold.

Anwar Ali appeared hitting three massive sixes in the last over; when three runs were needed from the last ball – Quetta found themselves short of one of them.

In the first half of the innings, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal decked for a 44 run third wicket partnership with Mohammad Hafeez losing two wickets early in the innings.

He himself scored a 29 ball 27 runs with 5 shots of fours. Peshawar Zalmi’s broken innings was mend by Liam Dawson in the middle who made 62 runs striking 4 shots of sixes accompanies by 6 fours.

On the other hand, another Bangladeshi cricketer Mahmudullah Riyad scored a 20 ball 19 runs with 3 fours and took Mohammad Hafeez wicket.

Mohammad Hafeez (25) and Wahab Riaz (15) are other significant scorers in the innings who get passed double digit. Rahat Ali came with a 4 wicket haul.

The winning team, Peshawar Zalmi will have to face another knockout match against Karachi Kings on Wednesday to reach into the final of the Pakistan Super League 2018.
