Watch: Rohit drops a sitter; Stokes gives a priceless reaction
Rohit Sharma is one of the finest fielders of the Indian cricket team. Earlier, he came under fire for gaining weight in the lockdown. However, he worked on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and attained desirable levels of fitness.
He was declared fit by the BCCI medical team where he also cleared the fitness test. After which, he took the flight to Australia to play the Test series. He took part in the third and fourth Test where he displayed great athleticism and sharpness on the field.
Rohit showed incredible awareness during the series decider where he took 5 catches on the field, dismissing the likes of David Warner, Steve Smith and Tim Paine in the first innings and Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green in the second innings.
Rohit drops a sitter in Chepauk Test
The first Test match between India and England is being played at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai and the match is being played behind the closed doors. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are involved in the Indian team set-up after quite a long time.
During the game, Rohit dropped an easy sitter, which took the cricket fraternity by surprise. Nobody really expected this incident. Rohit also denied Washington Sundar a wicket in the 175th over of England’s batting on Day 2.
During the over, Dom Bess tried to play a shot off Sundar’s bowling. However, he ended up hitting straight to Rohit who was positioned at the mid-wicket region. In what was such an easy-peasy chance, the 33-year-old dropped a drolly.
Virat Kohli couldn’t believe what he saw and was not happy with it. However, it was Ben Stokes who stole the spotlight this time as he gave a priceless reaction. The England all-rounder who watched the incident at the dressing room kept his hand on his mouth.
