Watch: Sanju Samon’s flying effort to save a six
India secured a convincing victory yet again against the hosts New Zealand to complete a 5-0 whitewash in the T20I series.
The nightmare series comes to an end for New Zealand with a 5-0 whitewash. They failed to chase down a fighting total of 163 courtesy of sparkling bowling from the visitors. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul powered India to 163 after winning the toss and opting to bat first.
Rohit scored 60* before leaving the ground due to injury. Shreyas Iyer then took over and played a steady knock of 33* in the end. However, the visitors were hit by a huge blow after Rohit’s injury and KL Rahul got the opportunity to take over the leadership for the very first time.
In reply, the Indian bowlers were all over the Kiwi batsmen and removed three wickets with less than 20 runs on the board. As much as the bowling was top-notch, so was the fielding from the youngsters especially from Sanju Samson, who stunned the crowd with a breathtaking effort.
During the 8th over of the New Zealand innings, Ross Taylor lined himself up for a slog over cow corner and as intended, he did connect with a long-heave. However, just when he thought that the ball went beyond the boundary, there stood Sanju Samson, who made a valiant effort to save a certain six.
