Watch Shahzad slams 74 from 16 in T10 League
Afghanistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad slammed a blistering cameo of 74 runs from 16 balls in the opening game of the ongoing T10 League.
In the list of cricket leagues around every nation, T10 League is the new addition to the list. As the name suggests the game will feature ten overs per side and played with the regular conditions applied to the game.
A total of eight teams are competing in two groups in the league that is being played in the United Arab Emirates. This year’s edition hs started with the opening encounter between Rajputs and Sindhis in Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sharjah.
Rajputs led by former New Zealand cricketer Brendon Mccullum won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sindhis led by former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson.
Watson’s Sindhis managed to score 94 runs in the allocated ten overs for the loss of six wickets. All the batsmen of Sindhis scored single digit scores except the skipper Shane Watson who scored 42 runs from 20 balls with a strike rate of 210 including four fours and three sixes.
In Rajput’s bowling line-up, Indian cricketer who announced his International retirement recently, Munaf Patel impressed by taking three wickets. Along with him Windies T20 captain Carlos Brathwaite took two wickets to his name.
Rajputs were asked to chase 96 runs which were more competitive even though the opponent batsmen failed with the bat. Captain Brendon McCullum and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad started the chase for Rajputs.
Mohammad Shahzad had a dream day in the field with the bat. He started to blaze right from the third ball of the innings with a four. Right then he didn’t have a break in his innings. The Afghan batsman went on to score his half-century only in 12 balls.
With his blistering knock, Rajputs chased the total only in four overs. Mohammad Shahzad finished the match with 74 runs from 16 balls including six fours and eight sixes with a strike rate of 462.5. In the other end the skipper remained unbeaten on 21 from eight balls.
