After winning the toss, Windies skipper Jason Holder opted to bat first in a track which is ideal for batsmen. And the Windies openers indeed started off well as the openers put 89 runs in the opening stand with Shai Hope scoring a brilliant hundred Sunil Ambris scoring a brisk 38.
Mehidy Hasan brought the first breakthrough by dismissing Ambris. However, it didn’t affect the Caribbeans much as Roston Chase, who was promoted up the order scored a brilliant to keep Windies in a firm position.
When the men in red were well on course to post a huge total, skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza led the team from front and changed the complexion of the game by picking up three quick wickets in the death overs. Windies lost the plot in the death overs and managed to score 261 runs in the end with the loss of 9 wickets. Mortaza was the pick of the bowler with 3 wickets while Mustafizur and Mohammad Saifuddin picked up 2 each.
In reply, Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar gave their side even a better start as they put 144 runs in the opening stand. Soumya scored a firing 73 off just 68 balls while the dependable Tamim played a steady but very useful knock of 80 from 116 balls.
