Shaw ruled out of Adelaide Test

Indian opener Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the first Testa against Australia after he injured his left ankle  in the tour game against Cricket Australia XI at SCG.

While attempting at a catch, Shaw caught the ball just inside the rope, but twisted his left ankle while landing and burst into tears soon after that.

India physio Patrick Farhart rushed into the field and carried him off the field and then was taken to the hospital immediately for scans. And the report suggested a lateral ligament injury and Shaw will undergo an “intensive rehabilitation program” to become available at the earliest.

However, he has no chance to play in the first Test and can be even ruled out for the Test series if further reports suggest any more major injury.

The Indian opener was well in a chance to play in the first Test as he scored 66 in the ongoing practice match. Batting coach Sanjay Bangar also confirmed that Shaw was all set to make his debut in the Adelaide Test.

India haven’t named a squad replacement yet. Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan are in the line to replace him while KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma likely to open in the first Test.
