The drama started when he was seen changing his jersey and all of a sudden, the ball went past him for a boundary and the hapless Mustafa failed to stop a boundary. Since he was in an uncomfortable position, all he could do was just chase the ball and concede 4 runs.
Meanwhile, everyone in the stadium couldn’t control their laughter. Nicholas Pooran who was sitting in the dugout was also spotted laughing after Mustafa’s antics. Not just him, even the fans and commentators laughed as well.
However, after the game, Mustafa explained the reason behind conceding 4 runs. While the whole cricket fraternity thought he was changing his jersey, Mustafa said: “I was not changing jersey. I was removing my sweater and shirt got stuck in it as I was bowling next over and umpire doesn’t take anything from bowler because of Covid rules…still apologize my @TeamAD.”
Team Abu Dhabi scored 123/3 in 10 overs with the help of Joe Clarke’s 24-ball-50. Norther Warriors chased down the target in the last ball. Waseem Muhammad top-scored with 76 off 34 balls including 7 fours and 6 sixes.
“A wonderful partnership that led us to the win and it’s important to get us the two points. I didn’t do too well, but not everyday is your day. And the antics from Mustafa were far too funny, so I’ll poke some fun at him when I see him again,” Northern Warriors captain Nicholas Pooran said at the post-match presentation.
